Organizational History

BusinessSpeech Improvement was started in 1991 in Reading, Pennsylvania by Katie Schwartz, CCC-SLP. She wanted to combine her experience in traditional speech therapy with the needs of business people today. The company moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee in 1999.

The company began by offering foreign accent modification training. Services expanded by corporate request to include training in hearing education for people with hearing loss and their supervisors, public/persuasive speaking, training in speech and language impairments, individual speech coaching for executives, interviewing training for college and job applicants, communication consulting for lawyers, inter-generational communication, small talk/verbal networking, listening training for executives, and research-based brainstorming facilitation training for businesses. The latest training offered is custom-designed courses for groups who want a combination of various classes for management, sales, customer service, and secretarial staff.
